Short Description

Turistic tour Mercadillo de Teguise and Fundación César Manrique

Market of sensations! In the old capital of the island, Teguise, the most famous market takes place every Sunday. In its alleys fild with history, hundreds of stalls offer the visitor a great variety of local handicrafts and typical products. In the main square, Canarian folklore entertains the market. On Sundays some of the centuries-old houses are turned into museums, bars, restaurants or art galleries with a unique charm. Advice: try the typical products, like Cheese, Wine, Tapas, Churros…., and take part of the dances.

Advice: Try the typical products:  cheese, wine, tapas, churros ..., and do not stop cheering up the dances.

Furthermore, take advantage of the unique chance of combining a visit of the Teguise market with the "Fundación César Manrique" (Foundation), home and workshop of the brilliant artist. It is particularly impressive for its architecture. Much of this housing, so out of the ordinary, is integrated into one of the islands' longest lava rivers. Natural lava walls and their curious forms were his residence for two decades and inspiration for his creations that made Manrique a unique artist.

Enjoy with us a different Sunday morning in this beautiful town of Teguise and let the comments of our tour guides brighten your day and make this a special day on this island of Lanzarote, so unique and so different.

Every Sunday of the year we can enjoy a vibrant market, full of life and a town, Teguise, full of beautiful corners that take us to a colonial city of the fifteenth century.

The excursion to Teguise´s Market is not just a visit to any street market. This market is located in a beautiful village that was the first capital of the island of Lanzarote, with old mansions that participate in the event becoming for a day a restaurant, bar, cafeteria, wine cellar or art gallery. In these houses, you can see what is offered, but surrounded by history, in an incomparable atmosphere.

After the pickup, we head directly to the Village of Teguise where the flea market is taking place in the old capital of the island, Teguise. Before arriving at the market, however, we paid a visit to the beautiful and surprising "César Manrique Foundation", home and workshop of the brilliant artist. It is particularly impressive for its architecture. Much of this housing, so out of the ordinary, is integrated into one of the islands' longest lava rivers. Natural lava walls and their curious forms were his residence for two decades and inspiration for his creations that made Manrique a unique artist.

Then the bus leaves us in the heart of the town of Teguise, where the most famous market in Lanzarote is held every Sunday. The guide that accompanies us will supply us with some information on products to be acquired and which areas are the most worthwhile peeking into. The market is quite wide, so we recommend you have a first look at the market before you start buying products as there may be price differences.

In its streets, full of history hundreds of stalls offer visitors a variety of typical products and local crafts. In its main square performances of Canarian folklore enliven the market. Some of the centennial houses are converted every Sunday into museums, wineries, restaurants or art galleries with a very peculiar charm.

In the square, we can find the food stalls, although it is enough to follow the scents to satisfy our hunger. In the same market, traditional dances are also organized accompanied by traditional folk music that flood the air with musical notes that invite you to dance.

At the agreed time, we return to the hotel along with the products purchased at this fabulous market.

Advice: Try the typical products:  cheese, wine, tapas, churros ..., and do not stop cheering up the dances.
